Vintage Mourning Locket Portrait Pendant. Pearls and Diamonds.

This elegant vintage pendant showcases a hand-painted porcelain portrait miniature of a lady styled in the 18th-century, with white hair swept upward and adorned with 3 tiny diamond hair ornaments. She wears a delicate choker necklace and a gown in rich crimson and soft blue drapery, evoking the refined aesthetic of the French Rococo period.
The portrait is set within a shield-shaped 22K gold on top of a white metal frame with softly flared sides and decorative beaded accents. Along the upper edge sits a small horizontal bar adorned with three small pearls, on the top and 1 small pearl at the bottom, adding delicate detail to the piece.
Pieces like this are from the Victorian and Edwardian revival jewelry, when miniature portrait pendants celebrating historical aristocratic beauty were highly fashionable.
I was told that the painted pendant is set in a white metal with a 22K gold plate with 3 tiny tiny natural uncut diamonds.
The back is also very well made and has a removable beveled glass piece that you can put a note or something else in.
The freshwater pearl with gold tone wire wrap is included at no charge. I have also photographed the pendant with a 22K gold plate chain (not included)The last picture shows that the top portion was not gilded after a repair from many year ago. This is a great and unusual vintage piece.
