Vintage medallion issued by the American Legion Auxiliary. The medal has the American Legion emblem in enamel on the front, the word Citizenship engraved on the bottom and, the name Fannie Kostan 1933 on the back.
The brass/gold-tone construction and enamel center are consistent with medallions issued by the American Legion. I am not sure what the metal is but appears to be a gilded bronze or, gilded brass and has a vintage warm gold tone.
I reconstructed the chain from a vintage watch chain. The necklace measures 17.50 inches, the pendant measures 1.25 inches long by .75 wide and hangs 1.50 inches from the chain.
Finished with a toggle clasp on the front, back is finished with small freshwater pearls that are wire wrapped in a gold tone.
Patriotic symbol: Eagle with spread wings – represents American freedom and national pride
Wheat or laurel branches – symbolize achievement and honor
Blue star emblem – associated with the American Legion Auxiliary insignia
“Citizenship” banner – indicating the specific award category
Gold-tone shield form – typical mid-20th century award medal style
A one of a kind, wear with anything anywhere vintage treasure.
